Here they are: the winning team for the 2006 Spell Ball Championship for the NALA (Neighborhood Adult Literacy Action) Spell Ball---our very own MSSU Honors Program team. From left to right: Matt Peters, Garrett Terry, Rita Forbes.
There were teams from Freeman and St. John's hospitals, the Joplin Globe, Sam's Club, Lafayette House, Leggett and Platt, Martin Luther School, and other teams from Missouri Southern. Some of the words that they had to spell were: adscititious, celerity, arabesque, ichthyology, antepenultimate, and umbrageous. They were the only team in the finals to earn a full 12 points in four innings.
Way to go, gang!
